a sampler to celebrate 25 years of morc - past, present and future! how exciting! let's start by saying that this is a tricky one to make - how do you pick favorites from 25 years of releases? we tried to solve this by letting a few artists pick their favorites. Gayle (Pefkin), Elisabeth (Luster), Wio (Wio, de Portables), Ellen (The Puddle Parade) and me (Circle Bros, Pernath) selected a few from the backcatalogue, and contributed a new song.

the first track is by Pefkin - i think this is her shortest solo track ever? the fact that she manages to deliver a proof of how great she is in an exclusive track of just over a minute long: she's setting high standards here. Wouter van Veldhoven did one solo 10" on morc - a lathe cut!, but also appeared on the latest soccer committee album, and is a regular at morc-shows, with his wall of taperecorders as the best possible background. Delphine has been on our radar for a long time, and the stars finally aligned for the release of the cd hymnes apophatiques. organ improvisations like no-one else does them. if you ever heard soccer Committee before, you'll remember. her output is scarce, but it's pretty incredible that her music evolved so softly into the mesmerizing sound she brings today. Wio (of wio/de portables) and Elisabeth (of Luster) did a collaboration especially for the release of this cd. Welcome, Guy Trunte! We first got in touch with Karina ESP after a zine compared Chris' work with that of Circle Brothers. Hah. were they right! start of a long-running love affair. A newer love affair: Goldscammer has recently blown us away with his repetitive electric urban blues. he's working on a morc release, but we decided to included a track from a self-released tape. can't wait. Bingo Trappers has been on our side since the very early years, and our favorite dutch duo is still going strong. they just put out a new album on AHT and Grapefruit this spring. also in the early 2000s, Holy Sons was one of the last four-trackers, and one of the best. his 10" is much sought after, but don't despair: the album was reisssued on cd by Important a few years later. Puddle Parade has recently resurfaced after a way too long break. pretty excited about her first new recording in years. Circle Bros, that's me. thought i'd contribute a not too recent track that sounds like a really old track. more broke equipment on the ROT track: noone managed to capture the sound of a room like they do. Iditarod is very, very sadly missed. jeffrey is still jamming, but i'm hoping that Carin decides to pick up her instruments again too. first time that we heard of Roxane was when ROT suggested her artwork for their 'klein eiland' cd. little did i know she was making music as well, and were we glad to find out how great her music is. Annelies has been with us since the very beginning as one half of the duo Zent one, and later also solo and with Luster. another regular since 2000: steve marreyt, here present under the edgar wappenhalter monniker. new work coming up, he promised. please remind him of that every now and then. the name michael anderson is the one you'll fine on most morc releases: he's doing the mastering, but is also one of our favorite musicians, favorite people and a spiritual guide. can't think of a better way to end this compilation than a drekka track, really.
