This is a rather extreme recording, the aim of which seems to be to disturb and make uncomfortable the listener. Below I compare it to others, yet it seems to retain it's own identity (especially the 'B' side).
Side one, which consists of one 21 minute-long track opens with a loud blast of ambient noise. From this it evolves into a noisy, dissonant piece of non-beat chaos, occasionally forming duel-distortion rhythms, more often than not blending one colour grating noise blast with another. It seems pretty obviously short wave radio, yet is so grating, so contrived that the ears keep searching for some proof one way or the other. What cannot be denied is that it is effective. What also cannot be denied is that it is extremely migraine-inducing, a cacophonic 'headwash' almost guaranteed to purge you, of leaving you red-raw and insensate. Voices, both human and outre, can be discerned through the white heat ray of noise, moaning and 'speaking in tongues'. Towards the end, there's a moment when it sounds not unlike "IBM" - the TG track, but only briefly. It closes, fading to silence, on an ambient 'note'.
Side two (or 'B', as they put it) is shorter at 17 minutes, and is by far the best side, to this reviewer, at least. It consists of semi-rhythmic snatches of voice, forced through effects all touching the boundries of feedback, making for a harsh, dangerous music with all the subtlety of chainsaw surgery. It's no less grating than the first side, but there's a lot more to it, voices almost discernable, yet distorted beyond the point of easy recognizion. If sharp, well-honed, well-lubricated metal had a voice, this might well be a record of it's most heated speech. It could also be GENESIS P ORRIDGE verbally masturbating over one of Hitler's more manic tirades, and coming up sounding like a MONTY PYTHON character! While I couldn't say I'd listen to this for pleasure, I'd go as far as to recommend it to anyone who likes this rather extreme style of 'music' - they obviously put a lot of effort into it, coming out with an effective piece. Anyone who likes the Japanese-type extreme noise groups - SUZUKI SHUNYA etc. should like this, and those into WHITEHOUSE, ENTRE VIFS, THE HATERS and so on, might find this recording fills a gap in their collection, It's not my taste, but it is effective.
