イタリアのギタリストであるM. Beckmannが自身の考えるローカルなアンビエンスを伝えるべく、エクスペリメンタル、アンビエント、環境音、ドローン、ポストロックを織り交ぜたスタイルにて立ち上げた個人プロジェクトThe Volume Settings Folder。各タイトル限定50部で統一、一つ一つ異なる手作りのパッケージデザインが美しいセルフシリーズ。程よくノスタルジーなサウンドスケープ、変則な動きが心地良いギター音響、更には気配の様な音像までをやってのける素晴らしい音楽性の持ち主。本作は2024年10月に出版された2CD-R作[Alpenreisen]。21トラック編成にてくぐもった風景美を紡いだ美麗大作。毎度の如く美しいデザインのパッケージ。









this is a collection of works I started recording back in March 2024, a weekly ritual of mine, mostly on Sundays, sometimes casual but other times a bit more considered. usually the thought-out pieces make the cut.
there's a nice story to the artwork.
the cover shot and the pictures in the booklet of the double CDr release have been taken over 20 years apart - oddly enough always by me. the cover was taken in 1999, when I was in 7th grade, at the beginning of a day off with my family where they tricked me - as per usual - to walk paths too steep and distances too long for my taste, in the parking area leading to Cima d'Asta, Trentino, northern Italy. this was one of two shots taken to let the film - yes, I'm that old - roll-in properly, and the light burn captured here always fascinated me. the other pics are polaroids I took last June 2024, throughout Val di Fassa, always Trentino, northern Italy. I'm still trying to figure out how to take good polaroids. like the music making journey, it's a long one.
