ガチガチの即興ものからエレクトロアコースティック、謎過ぎるユニークな面白音源までを手がけるフランスのレーベルBe Coq。ミュージック・コンクレートとファンクの融合という面白いコンセプトで制作された、本国にて活動しMonotype Recordsや[ tanzprocesz ]に作品を残すJean-Philippe GrossとGolden Orioleのコンビの10インチ。耳を劈くほどほどのシャープな電子ドローン&ノイズで脳内をグラグラに揺さぶる滅茶苦茶カッコイイAサイド[The Granitoid Panics]、そしてファンクを変拍子なリズムと共に解体した気持ちの良いリズムとコンクレートのBサイド[Optical Cadillac]、このレーベルらしいアンバランス具合が堪らない録音となっています。

A split 10inch with Jean-Philippe Gross on one side and Golden Oriole on the other. The first one delivers 7’30” of an impulsive electronic quicksand where everything seems unstable and elusive, with that strange feeling of not knowing if you are moving forward or not, or that experience of a “non-Newtonian fluid” – a fluid you can walk on. In short, we are between immobility and speed, between raw materials and etheric frequencies!

The second Golden Oriole, Thore Warland, drums, and Kristoffer Riis, guitar, who used to play in trio under the name of Staer, produced here by Jørgen Træen, alias Sir Dupermann, gives us a side of a harmonious and reverberated groove that Bill Laswell or Golden Palominos wouldn’t have disavowed!
