控えめな電子音が映える秀逸なエレクトロアコースティック録音!!アルジェリア出身、フランスを拠点に活動し電子/実験/即興界の重要人物となったJean-Marc Foussat。氏とデュオユニットAliquid、またLe Grand Fou Bandという大所帯の集団でも活動を共にしている、1946年生まれのフレンチサクソフォニストSylvain Guerineauとの2023年作。コルトレーンをはじめ、コールマン・ホーキンスやドン・バイアスからの影響を受けたというメロディックなサックスと、そこに静謐に絡みつくエレクトロニクスのバランスがメチャクチャ美しい全編。

A study of contrasts as French improvising synth player Jean-Marc Foussat joins with legendary saxophonist & bass clarinetist Sylvain Guerineau, whose work in both jazz tradition and free playing finds him a lyrical and expressive player, bringing flexibility in combination with a seemingly disparate foil in Foussat, heard in six succint dialogs of unconventional compatibility.

"Recorded at home in November 2022 in the Loiret, this curious little regional river which gives its name to the department whose capital is Orleans, the city where Albert Ayler, then a young unknown U.S. militiaman, officiated, here is a beautiful testimony of dialogue between two distinctive incarnations of free jazz and improvised music. On the one hand a creator of "analog" electronic music, Jean-Marc Foussat credited here Synthi AKS, piano, toys and voice and on the other a free blower with a very beautiful timbre very inspired by the jazz tradition between Coleman Hawkins, Don Byas and a melodic sense coming from Coltrane, Sylvain Guerineau, who initiates the album with Une Belle Volee on bass clarinet while his usual instrument is the tenor saxophone.

Each firmly established in their respective very contrasting musical universes, the two improvisers complement each other through tangents and work together through the grace of their sensitivity. The recording technique is of superior quality both for the majestic timbre of Guerineau's tenor saxophone and for the dynamics and timbres of the electronics, whether it whirs, murmurs, sparkles, slides, sizzles or skids while screeching.
